Smithwicks “Irish Ale”

Posted: April 16, 2011 in Irish Red

I get irritated when beer names are mispronounced.  The most common I see is when people pronounce hefeweizen.  A lot of people pronounce the “w” as a “w” instead of as a “v”.  That is not right and it gets to me.  Smithwicks is kinda the same.  A lot of people pronounce smith wicks, when it is supposed to be like Smiddicks.  I know in the grand scheme of things it really doesn’t matter, but it still gets me.  So Smithwicks is a very good beer.  It has a very nice complex malty flavor, but isn’t overbearing.  The color, head, and lace are are very good.  It is very easy to drink multiple of.  I like Irish beers and this is a very good one.  Very good beer.
